Family Night
Family Night is held once a week at all of our facilities. Family Night has proved to be a valuable part of recovery for our clients. Family and Close friends of our clients are encouraged to attend these meetings, they present the perfect forum for families and clients to share their feelings and thoughts in a healthy environment.
Family Values
We at Bakersfield Recovery Services inc. are dedicated to providing a safe environment where individuals can learn to walk with integrity. We focus strongly on family & family values. Capistrano Community For Women is licensed for children to stay with their Mothers while they receive treatment. We have an outstanding Parenting Class and also provide classes in Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Relapse Prevention & Healthy Relationships.
Family Reunification
Many of our clients have lost their children due to their previous lifestyle which revolved around the use of drugs & alcohol. We provide services & Information that often results in seeing a child reunited with their families. We also provide transportation to CPS visits and other necessary appointments that will help bring families back together.
Our Founder
Bakersfield Recovery Services inc. are a group of Substance abuse treatment facilities which house Men, Women and Children. Founded in 1987 by Zane Smith after the tragic loss of his 22 year old son Jason to an overdose brought on by cocaine and alcohol. Zanes reaction to the senseless loss of his eldest son to drugs and alcohol took on an intensity of confusion and anger that nearly consumed him. The grief shared by family and close friends was overshadowed by their concern for the survival of Jasons Father, Himself a Recovering Alcoholic.
In 1987 Zanes anger turned outward and became intensely focused against what he considered to be not only his personal enemy, but an insidious entity preying on every family in every community. Within a year of his sons death zane reclaimed an abandoned 2-story, wood-frame house at 600 Bernard street which had become a haven for crack and heroin dealers and with the help and support of caring friends and concerned local citizens opened the doors too Jasons Retreat, a Resedential Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility for men. The following Spring Zane and the small staff at Jasons Retreat designed and implemented a 12-Step Program for the treatment of drug & alcohol abuse and 6 men began the process of reclaiming their lives.
TODAY Bakersfield Recovery Services inc. Also has a Womens Facility, Capistrano Community For Women which houses women and their children providing the tools for recovery while rebuilding families and broken relationships. Bakersfield Recovery Services inc. Also has another facility, Lincoln Street Retreat, where Women can get treatment during Pregnancy.
Mission Statement
Jason’s Retreat, a men’s center, and Capistrano Community for Women offer safe and nurturing residential environments in which men and women can begin the process of recovery from addiction to alcohol and /or drugs. While providing an atmosphere of caring, with life’s basic necessities provided, we hope to give clients an opportunity to change long-entrenched attitudes and belief systems, and rebuild lives damaged by addiction. Our programs offer 12-Step based Social Model treatment that emphasizes individual responsibility and accountability. We believe that homelessness and criminal behavior flow directly from addiction, and therefore hope to improve our community by assisting our clients to become productive, useful citizens.
